Alison Pearce

Nat Scott
Directors
Ali and Nat are both qualified Early Years Practitioners who formed Hummingbirds over a decade ago with a shared vision to create a child centred, homely environment which nurtures kindness, confidence and wonderment.
As mothers themselves, they understand the importance of the parent-nursery relationship and put a high emphasis on communication with home.

During 2020 they were given the opportunity to move the setting into a beautiful, purpose built building in College Farm Yard in Bramdean, Alresford. Hummingbirds Nursery opened it's new doors in May 2022.

Millie
Junior Director

Millie joined us as Junior Director in summer 2024. She has been a doctor for 6 years and will be completing her last year of GP training alongside working at Hummingbirds. This means she understands just how important it is for children to have the best start in life and strives to help create a nurturing, enriching environment where children can reach their full potential. ​​​

Emily
Deputy Manager

Emily has been a core part of the Hummingbirds team since 2017. She has a level 4 foundation degree.
​
In 2022, Emily took on the role of deputy manager after spending time leading the group for under 2s. She can capture the attention of the whole group with her stories and brilliant Billy the Bird puppet!
​
Emily grew up in the countryside and loves sharing her passion for nature with the children.

Emma
Senior Early Years Practitioner

Emma is a Level 6 Early Years Practitioner. She has worked at Hummingbirds for many years, before taking some time away to have her own children.
Emma leads the Pre-School group's daily activities. She is a qualified Forest School teacher and takes the children into the beautiful countryside surrounding Hummingbirds for fantastic and educational adventures!

Susie
SENCO
Early Years Practitioner

Susie is an Early Years practitioner, she is deeply committed to providing safe and secure secondary attachments for children that allow them to flourish beyond their own home environment.
​​
She enjoys helping to facilitate learning through playing and exploring.

Sarah S
Senior Early Years Practitioner

Sarah is highly qualified with a BA degree in Early Years and a Level 3 Forest School Accreditation as well as a maternity nursing award.
​
She leads the team for under 3s and brings new and exciting activities to further their learning.

Sophie S
Early Years Practitioner

Sophie has a level 3 in Early Years Education. She has a wealth of experience in different nursery settings.
​
She loves being outside and enjoys sport. She is always smiling and the children love her fun and happy approach to learning.​

Ellie
Early Years Practitioner

Ellie has a level 3 in Early Years Education and experience of working in several settings, bringing new ideas with her!
She enjoys spending time outside with the children and on walks.

Sarah A
Early Years Practitioner

Sarah has joined us with many years experience of childcare. She has a level 3 in early years education.
​
She has a
gentle approach and this children love her fantastic book reading!

Lynne
Early Years Practitioner

Lynne is one of our level 3 Early Years Practitioners. She enjoys being outdoors and going on walks with the children.
​
She is very experienced and has worked in early years settings for many years. She has a lovely calm presence in the nursery.
​

Clare
Early Years Practitioner

Clare has a Level 4 diploma in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. As well as a further qualification in advanced managing challenging behaviours.
​
She has been working in school settings for the last 8 years and is qualified in British Sign Language. At Hummingbirds, Clare is teaching Makaton as a communication tool. Clare says that she loves getting outside, exploring on our daily walks and watching the children's skills grow.
​
Outside of nursery, Clare enjoys dancing!

Sophie K
Early Years Practitioner

Sophie has recently come back to Early Years education after spending some time gaining experience as a secondary school teaching assistant.
​
She has a wealth of experience across multiple different education settings which means she has
lots of brilliant ideas. She loves arts and crafts as well as being outdoors.

Maddie
Early Years Apprentice

Maddie recently moved from Devon to Hampshire and is completing her Early Years Educator level 3 apprenticeship with us at Hummingbirds.
​
She enjoys reading to the children and doing art!
​

Tilly
Early Years Apprentice
​
Tilly is a fantastic sportswoman and plays Football for Southampton. She is passionate about being outside, teamwork and sport and brings this enthusiasm to Hummingbirds.
​
The children love her story telling and she is working towards her Level 3 Early Years Educator.

Tracey
Head Chef

Tracey is a brilliant chef with previous experience working in a Montessori.
​
She is the heart of the team! She manages our lunchtimes, providing the children with nutritious and home-cooked food.
​
Tracey regularly spends an hour with the children and often facilitates fun cooking sessions in small groups.

Liz
Chef

Liz is our fantastic chef who has experience in many areas of hospitality. She is the queen of pastry!
Alongside Tracey, she provides healthy and delicious meals.
​
Outside of work, she enjoys reading and swimming.
Visiting Teachers

James
James comes from Soccer Schools UK and attends Hummingbirds weekly.
His nursery session involves a mixture of SSUK's football "mini-kickers" programme and "multi-skills" programme. The sessions are designed to teach 2-4 year olds the basic skills of football and sport in a fun and creative environment.

He introduces the key fundamentals of movement and ball skills as well as starting to use sporting equipment.

Lorna
Lorna is the owner and coach of Playball Hampshire and attends Hummingbirds twice weekly.
She has 7 years experience of coaching children and uses the Playball structured programme to give each child a sound base from which to develop further sporting skills.

The children love her fun and engaging sessions.

Chloe
Chloe is a fully qualified Drama teacher and the owner of Debutots Southampton North and Winchester. She visits Hummingbirds once a week to provide a special mix of interactive story telling and drama.
She inspires children to develop a love for stories and language and give them the opportunity to explore the wonder of their own imaginations.
