The Team

Alison Pearce

Alison founded Hummingbirds in 2011 with a small group of children and one assistant.

After a professional career and raising four children of her own, she understands the pressures felt by working families and the importance of knowing your child is in a happy, enriching and safe environment.

Alison believes that learning should be fun and that childhood is a precious and exciting time which lays down the foundations for life and future learning.

Nat Scott

Nat joined Alison in 2013 having previously been Director of Music at Dunhurst School.

She has a wealth of experience in curriculum development and working in partnership with parents.

Nat is passionate about the importance of the early years and providing the perfect environment for young children to flourish under the guidance of a creative, nurturing team who bring their passions to life for the children.

Emily joined Hummingbirds in 2017 as a student and has stayed on with us to become a full time member of the team.

Having completed her Early Years Foundation Degree to Level 4, Emily is now developing her specialism in Special Educational Needs.

All of the children love her flair for making education fun and her ability to create a fabulous french plait!

Laura is our Spanish teacher and has a BA Hons in Psychology and holds a Certificate of Higher Education in early childhood education.

Laura has been working with us since the Spring of 2021; delighting and enthusing the children with her creative Spanish lessons.

We are thrilled that she has increased her time with us to full-time from September 2021 and is able to integrate Spanish language into everyday activities. She is also furthering her qualifications by training for another degree to become a fully qualified Early Years teacher.

Zuri joined us in the summer of 2021 after teaching in the Spanish department at Bedales school for the last year.

She has a Masters degree in English and is continuing her training with a further degree to become a fully qualified Early Years teacher.

Along with Laura, she incorporates Spanish into every aspect of the day which is fabulous for the children. She is caring, energetic and loves doing creative art projects both indoors and outdoors.

Jamie comes from Soccer Schools UK and attends Hummingbirds weekly.

His nursery session involves a mixture of SSUK's football "mini-kickers" programme and "multi-skills" programme. The sessions are designed to teach 2-4 year olds the basic skills of football and sport in a fun and creative environment.

He introduces the key fundamentals of movement and ball skills as well as starting to use sporting equipment.

Lorna is the owner and coach of Playball Hampshire and attends Hummingbirds twice weekly.

She has 7 years experience of coaching children and uses the Playball structured programme to give each child a sound base from which to develop further sporting skills.

The children love her fun and engaging sessions.

Emma has been an integral part of Hummingbirds since 2016.

She completed her degree in Early Years Initial Teacher Training in 2019 and recently achieved her Level 3 qualification in Forest School.

Emma is often found in our art zone, working with the children on their individual creative ideas and leading group sessions.

Emma is currently on maternity leave and we look forward to her return in 2022.
