Alison Pearce


Alison founded Hummingbirds in 2011 with a small group of children and one assistant.

After a professional career and raising four children of her own, she understands the pressures felt by working families and the importance of knowing your child is in a happy, enriching and safe environment.

Alison believes that learning should be fun and that childhood is a precious and exciting time which lays down the foundations for life and future learning.


Nat Scott



Nat joined Alison in 2013 having previously been Director of Music at Dunhurst School.

She has a wealth of experience in curriculum development and working in partnership with parents.


Nat is passionate about the importance of the early years and providing the perfect environment for young children to flourish under the guidance of a creative, nurturing team who bring their passions to life for the children.



Deputy Manager

Lead for under two years



Emily joined Hummingbirds in 2017 as a student and has stayed on with us to become a full time member of the team.

Having completed her Early Years Foundation Degree to Level 4, Emily has recently taken on the role of Deputy Manager and lead for under twos at our new site. 

All of the children love her flair for making education fun and her ability to create a fabulous french plait!

Lead for preschoolers



We are excited for Rachael to be joining us from August. She is a qualified teacher with many years experience in early years and Montessori. 



Early Preschool Lead



Zuri joined us in the summer of 2021 after teaching in the Spanish department at Bedales school for the last year. 

She has a Masters degree in English and is a fully qualified Early Years teacher.

She incorporates Spanish into every aspect of the day which is fabulous for the children. She is caring, energetic and loves doing creative art projects both indoors and outdoors.


Sophie S

Two - Three Years Lead


Sophie has a level 3 in Early Years Education. She has a wealth of experience in different nursery settings and now leads our 2-3 year old group, the Hedgehogs. 

She loves being outside and enjoys sport. She is always smiling and the children love her fun and happy approach to learning.



Early years practitioner

Susie is an Early Years teacher, she is deeply committed to providing safe and secure secondary attachments for children that allow them to flourish beyond their own home environment.

She enjoys helping to facilitate learning through playing and exploring. 


Sophie C

Kitchen Manager

Art and Cooking teacher

Sophie is a qualified teacher with experience in a professional kitchen. She is a wonderful cook and manages our mealtimes, providing a wide range of nutritious and home-cooked food. 


She also teaches small group cooking and art sessions for the children.



Soccer Schools UK


Jordan comes from Soccer Schools UK and attends Hummingbirds weekly. 


His nursery session involves a mixture of SSUK's football "mini-kickers" programme and "multi-skills" programme. The sessions are designed to teach 2-4 year olds the basic skills of football and sport in a fun and creative environment.

He introduces the key fundamentals of movement and ball skills as well as starting to use sporting equipment.



Playball Hampshire 


Lorna is the owner and coach of Playball Hampshire and attends Hummingbirds twice weekly.


She has 7 years experience of coaching children and uses the Playball structured programme to give each child a sound base from which to develop further sporting skills.

The children love her fun and engaging sessions.
